Extruder Bearing Bushes

Journal bushes, thrust washers and wear rings — manufactured, fitted and refurbished

Extruder Bearing Bushes

We manufacture bearing bushes, sleeves, thrust washers and wear rings for extruders and the pelletizer heads attached to them. Bushes are supplied to original clearance, or finish-bored to a fitted size against your shaft journal and housing bore, so the running clearance is correct on assembly — not adjusted in the field.

What We Supply

  • Journal bushes and sleeves — screw shaft, quill and support bushes, plain and flanged, with oil grooves, feed holes and relief geometry to original pattern.

  • Thrust washers and wear rings — thrust faces, spacers and wear rings carrying axial screw load, supplied in matched thicknesses.

  • Steel-backed bimetal bushes — centrifugally cast and sintered bronze linings on a steel back, for high load and marginal lubrication.

  • Cutter shaft and seal housing bushes — bushes, sleeves and wear rings for the pelletizer cutter shaft and its water-chamber seal housing.

  • Gearbox and thrust pack components — thrust washers, spacers, retaining rings and bushes; rolling-element bearings sourced to the original specification.

  • Side feeder and stuffer bushes — shaft bushes and wear sleeves for side feeders, side stuffers and vent stuffers.

  • Fitted-size machining — bushes finish-bored to your measured journal and housing bore.

Extruder and Pelletizer Platform Coverage

We manufacture and supply new and replacement bearing bushes, sleeves, thrust washers and wear rings for all extruder and pelletizer platforms in service today, including — but not limited to — the machines below.

Manufacturer Extruder and pelletizer models and families
JSW — The Japan Steel Works CMP251, CMP274, CMP308, CMP335, CMP362, CMP387, CMP443; CIM360, CIM400, CIM460, CIM510, CIM560
Kobelco LCM, KTX and TSR families; LCM-H, LCM-EX, LCM-G, Hyper KTX, NEX-T, Mixtrumat and NCM legacy families
Coperion ZSK MEGAcompounder family, including ZSK 380 and ZSK 420
ENTEK HT 162
Farrel Pomini FCM and FMP systems, including FMP100
KraussMaffei KE, ZE-PC and ZE BluePower families
Leistritz ZSE 260 MAXX
Pelletizing systems Nordson BKG, including Type AH D drive and rotor parts; Gala, Maag and equivalent underwater, water-ring and strand pelletizing systems
All other makes Bushes and wear rings for single-screw, co-rotating and counter-rotating twin-screw extruders and their pelletizing systems, of any manufacturer, model or age

Platforms not listed are equally within scope, including obsolete and out-of-production equipment reproduced by reverse engineering. The extruder manufacturer and model are sufficient to open a project.

JSW Extruder Platforms

Our extruder program is built around JSW equipment. We hold established manufacturing experience across the CMP and CIM platforms: shaft journal and housing bore sizes, bush wall and clearance schedules, oil groove and feed hole patterns, thrust face arrangements, bush material specifications and the wear mechanisms that limit bush life on these machines.

The following components are supplied for the JSW CMP251, CMP274, CMP308, CMP335, CMP362, CMP387 and CMP443, and for the CIM360, CIM400, CIM460, CIM510 and CIM560:

Component Supply
Journal bushes and sleeves New manufacture, original or fitted size
Thrust washers and wear rings New manufacture
Steel-backed bimetal bushes New manufacture and relining
Cutter shaft and seal housing bushes New manufacture
Gearbox thrust pack components New manufacture and supply to original specification
Housing bore and shaft journal restoration Refurbishment

Bushes are supplied individually, as a fitted set with the shaft, or within a wider extruder and pelletizer package covering shafts, screws and screw elements, barrels, die plates, pelletizer knives, mechanical seals and couplings — including Nordson BKG Type AH D drive and rotor parts — with interface dimensions coordinated across the assembly.

Materials

Application Materials
Journal bushes and sleeves CuSn12 and CuPb10Sn10 bearing bronze; aluminum bronze for high load and shock
Steel-backed bimetal bushes Centrifugally cast or sintered bronze lining on a steel back
Thrust washers and wear rings Bearing bronze, 42CrMo4 (4140) and hardened steel
Cutter shaft and seal housing bushes Corrosion-resistant bronze and hardened stainless grades for water-chamber service

Materials are selected to load, speed, temperature and lubrication, and upgraded where the original was under-specified for the duty.

Refurbishment

A bush is the sacrificial part of the joint — it wears so the shaft and the housing do not. What we refurbish is the fit: the journal, the bore and the clearance between them, with a new bush made to suit.

  1. Incoming inspection — bush bore wear, ovality and wall thickness; shaft journal diameter, taper and surface condition; housing bore size, roundness and fit; running clearance against the service limit; hardness check and crack detection.
  2. Condition report — measured clearance and journal wear, remaining life and a clear recommendation: re-bush, restore the journal or run on.
  3. Cleaning — polymer and varnish removal, lubrication passage and oil feed hole cleaning, flow check of the supply circuit.
  4. Journal and housing restoration — worn shaft journals rebuilt by weld overlay, plating or thermal spray and re-ground to size; worn housing bores machined oversize and sleeved; damaged seats, threads and locating features repaired.
  5. Re-bushing to fit — a new bush manufactured and finish-bored to the restored journal and housing, with an upgrade in bronze grade, bimetal lining or hardened material where the original was under-specified for the load.
  6. Final inspection and matching — dimensional and hardness verification, trial assembly with the shaft, and running clearance and contact check before shipment.

A bush replaced early costs a fraction of the shaft and housing repair that follows if it is left to run.

Reverse Engineering

We hold the technical information needed to produce bushes for the platforms above. Where a bush is obsolete, undocumented or from an out-of-production machine, we reverse engineer it from a sample bush or from the mating shaft journal and housing bore: bore and outside diameter, wall thickness, flange and shoulder geometry, oil grooves and feed holes, chamfers, interference fit, material and hardness. The resulting manufacturing drawing package becomes the permanent record for repeat supply.

Quality

Every bush is delivered with material certificates, hardness and dimensional inspection records, and, for fitted sets, a trial assembly and running clearance check with the shaft. Manufacturing is carried out at ISO 9001 certified facilities.
