Extruder Screws

Screw elements, screw shafts and complete screw sets — new manufacture and refurbishment

Extruder Screws

We manufacture new extruder screws and refurbish worn screws for every type of extruder in service: twin-screw co-rotating and counter-rotating compounders, single-screw extruders and extruder-pelletizer lines. We supply individual screw elements, complete element sets, splined screw shafts and fully assembled screws built and matched to your machine.

What We Supply

  • Conveying elements — full-flight and half-flight forwarding and reversing elements in all standard and custom pitches.

  • Kneading blocks — forwarding, neutral and reversing kneading discs in all lobe counts and stagger angles.

  • Mixing and specialty elements — distributive mixing elements, gear mixers, toothed and slotted elements, transition and eccentric elements.

  • Screw shafts — splined and keyed shafts, single-piece and sectional, with matched spline fits to your existing element stock.

  • Complete screw sets — a full screw configuration built, matched, balanced and shipped as a ready-to-install set, in pairs for twin-screw machines.

  • Discharge and pelletizing-end components — end elements, retainers, tip nuts and adapters.

Extruder Platform Coverage

We manufacture and supply new and replacement screws, screw elements and screw shafts for all extruder platforms in service today, including — but not limited to — the machines below.

Farrel Pomini FCM and FMP systems, including FMP100
KraussMaffei KE, ZE-PC and ZE BluePower families
Leistritz ZSE 260 MAXX
All other makes Single-screw, co-rotating and counter-rotating twin-screw extruders of any manufacturer, model or age

Platforms not listed are equally within scope, including obsolete and out-of-production equipment reproduced by reverse engineering. The extruder manufacturer and model are sufficient to open a project.

JSW Extruder Platforms

Our extruder program is built around JSW equipment. We hold established manufacturing experience across the CMP and CIM platforms: screw element and kneading block geometry, flight and lobe profiles, spline and shaft systems, element stacking sequences, material specifications and the wear mechanisms that limit screw life on these machines.

The following screw components are supplied for the JSW CMP251, CMP274, CMP308, CMP335, CMP362, CMP387 and CMP443, and for the CIM360, CIM400, CIM460, CIM510 and CIM560:

Component Supply
Conveying screw elements New manufacture and refurbishment
Kneading blocks and mixing elements New manufacture and refurbishment
Complete screw sets (pair) New manufacture and refurbishment
Screw shafts (pair) New manufacture and refurbishment
End elements, tip nuts and retainers New manufacture

Screw components are supplied element by element, as a matched pair of complete screws, or within a wider extruder and pelletizer package covering barrels, die plates, pelletizer knives, mechanical seals, couplings and bearing bushes — including Nordson BKG Type AH D drive and rotor parts — with interface dimensions coordinated across the assembly.

Materials

Application Materials
Standard compounding Nitriding steels (31CrMoV9, 41CrAlMo7-10), gas- or plasma-nitrided; hot-work tool steels
Abrasive, filled and glass-reinforced compounds PM HIP tool steels and high-vanadium powder metallurgy grades; nickel-based and tungsten carbide hardfacing on flight lands and crests
Corrosive and flame-retardant compounds Corrosion-resistant PM tool steels and nickel-based alloys; nickel-chromium-boron overlays
Screw shafts Quenched-and-tempered alloy steels (34CrNiMo6 / 4340, 42CrMo4 / 4140) with hardened splines

Element materials are selected to the compound and the wear mechanism — abrasion, corrosion or both — and upgraded where the original material was under-specified for the process.

Refurbishment

In most cases a screw can be restored to original clearance and returned to service at a fraction of the cost of a new set.

  1. Incoming inspection — dimensional survey of flight outside diameter, flight width, root diameter, spline fit and straightness against original geometry; hardness check and crack detection.
  2. Condition report — measured wear, remaining life and a clear recommendation: rebuild, replace or run on.
  3. Rebuild — worn flight lands and crests rebuilt by weld overlay or hardfacing; damaged splines and bores restored; bent shafts straightened and stress relieved.
  4. Re-machining — flights and roots re-machined and finish ground back to original profile and clearance, with flight geometry restored to the design helix.
  5. Surface treatment — re-nitriding, hardfacing or coating as required, with an upgrade to a harder alloy where the original material was under-specified for the process.
  6. Final inspection and matching — dimensional and hardness verification, matched-set assembly and trial fit for twin-screw sets before shipment.

Screws rebuilt with an upgraded flight-land material routinely outlast the original.

Reverse Engineering

We hold the technical information needed to produce screws for the platforms above. Where an element or shaft is obsolete, undocumented or from an out-of-production machine, we reverse engineer it from the worn part: flight and lobe profile, pitch, outside and root diameter, centerline distance, spline data, element length and stacking sequence, material and hardness. The resulting manufacturing drawing package becomes the permanent record for repeat supply of the complete screw configuration.

Quality

  • Full material traceability with mill certificates on every part

  • Dimensional inspection report issued with each screw or element set

  • Hardness, case depth and coating thickness verification

  • Matched-set trial assembly before shipment

  • Parts manufactured and refurbished to original design intent and interchangeable with OEM components

Manufacturing is carried out at ISO 9001 certified facilities.
